INFORMATION FOR THE PUBLIC UNDER THE REGULATION ON THE PREVENTION AND REDUCTION OF THE EFFECTS OF MAJOR INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENTS

Kayalar Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. is a high-level establishment under the regulation, and as per Article 16, shares the following information with the public.

SECTION 1

  2. Compliance with the Regulation and Submission of the Safety Report
    Our establishment complies with the provisions of this regulation. The notification stated in Article 7 has been submitted using the notification system of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. As a high-level establishment, we have also prepared the safety report as required by Article 11.
  3. Activities Performed at the Establishment
    At Kayalar Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., solvent-based paints, water-based interior and exterior paints, various varnishes, thinners, hardeners, alkyd resins, acrylic, and isocyanate resins are produced.
  4. Chemicals That Could Cause Major Accidents
    Our establishment holds chemicals mainly from the paint group and solvents, which have flammable, toxic, and environmental effects.
  5. Actions to Take in Case of a Major Accident
    In the event of a major accident, intervention will be carried out according to the Internal Emergency Plan prepared under the Regulation on Emergency Plans to be Implemented in Major Industrial Accidents. If the Internal Emergency Plan is inadequate, the provincial disaster and emergency management will be notified, and intervention activities will be carried out in coordination with the provincial disaster response plan.

 

SECTION 2

  1. Summary Information on Potential Major Accidents and Their Control
    A scenario of toxic release due to content loss in the AR06 reactor has been studied under the Regulation on Major Accident Scenarios. Preventive and limiting measures and the frequency of the potential major industrial accident are below the threshold value of 1×10-4/year as specified in the regulation.
  2. Adequate Arrangements for Managing Major Industrial Accidents
    The establishment has created emergency response scenarios, detailing the use of internal and external resources, service group personnel, interventions from the alarm and control room, manual interventions, and fire-fighting equipment. Hazardous Material Response Cards for the chemical scenarios have been sent to relevant emergency services for advice.
  3. Collaboration with Emergency Services
    Collaboration with emergency services is maintained for response to any major accidents. Information exchange is conducted with internal units and external agencies such as the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorates through official correspondence or email.
